Things to do
In the heart of Harewood is the magnificent Grade I Listed Harewood House. Harewood House offers visitors beautiful grounds which include the house itself, lakes, parks, a castle, and gardens; which have been nominated for the Garden of the Year 2021. Take in the scenery and history of the area and make sure you keep an eye out for the wild deer that roam the grounds. Harewood house is also a popular venue for music, outdoor cinema, theatre, and car meets, so there’s always something new and exciting going on at the grand house. History
Harewood House was once home to royalty, in 1929 Princess Mary, the daughter of King George V, moved into Harewood House with husband Henry Lascelles, the 6th Earl of Harewood. She lived here until the Second World War when the house was then converted into a convalescent hospital before returning with her family following the end of the war. She lived here till 1965 when she sadly died following a heart attack within the Harewood House Grounds.
