Highlights and attractions
Stamford Hill has a wonderful sense of community – locals report feeling very safe there. It's a special place to set up home and a good area for those looking to invest in buy-to-let property.
Stamford Hill is the heartland of London's orthodox Jewish community. Of course, much of N16's success is down to the remarkably strong presence of independent business in the area, making it a truly distinctive part of the capital.

Food and drinks
Shacklewell and the surrounding neighbourhoods, including Dalston, have an enormous amount of nightlife to choose from - including tamer pubs and restaurants as well as bars and nightclubs, many of which also feature live music. You'll always be within walking distance of a great night out.
Here are some of our favourite places to eat and drink:
Jones & Sons
Jones & Sons is a classic British restaurant and cocktail bar with good vibes. It’s a place to meet, eat, and drink, with an emphasis on well prepared honest British food of the highest quality, and artisan cocktails from around the world. This successful N16 restaurant goes out of its way to serve food that is sourced with integrity and cooked cleverly by Head Chefs, Jake Taylor and Kieran Hope. The attention to detail is everywhere, with lights having been sourced from a marine salvage specialist in Exeter and a hand-poured concrete/resin mix floor – the upshot being a very personal reflection of the vision of the people who created Jones & Sons. With space for 90 people in the main restaurant and 70 in the function room and a further 50 in the beautiful decked leafy courtyard, Jones & Sons offers full table service and is a grown-up departure from the clamour of the vibrant late-night Kingsland Road institutions.
Jolene Bakery & Restaurant
Expect freshly baked pastries and good strong coffee in the mornings, with bigger dishes of hand-rolled pasta and Italian-styled meat and fish, come the evenings. The pastries at this bakery, cafe and restaurant, which uses unaltered grains from pasture cropping soil, which uses no pesticides, no herbicides, no tilling, no ploughing and using horse-drawn machinery only, is too good to resist.
Loading Stoke Newington
This place is amazing if you are into gaming! There are board games, video games on various consoles, old and new, and themed drinks. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. This community centred bar inspired by gaming culture, offers hundreds of board and video games to its customers, for free.
Shops
Aside from great places to eat and shop, there are many local attractions; N19 has an amazing selection of upmarket shops, cafes and restaurants.
Schools
The “outstanding” state comprehensive schools are Clapton Girls’ (ages 11 to 18) in Laura Place; Mossbourne (co-ed, ages 11 to 18) in Downs Park Road; and The City Academy, Hackney (co-ed, ages 11 to 18) in Homerton Row. The two sought-after state primary schools are Orchard in Holcroft Road, judged to be “outstanding” by the Government’s education watchdog Ofsted, and Lauriston in Rutland Road, rated as “good”. The two private City of London schools are a bus ride away; the boys’ school (ages 10 to 18) is in Queen Victoria Street and the girls’ school (ages seven to 18) is in St Giles Terrace in the Barbican.
