Things To Do
Shadwell has an abundance of things to do nearby. With Roundhay Park, one of the largest parks in Europe, just an 8 minute drive away, which hosts a whole range of events throughout the year, from concerts to food festivals, you’ll never be short of something to do. Excellent for commuting, Leeds Bradford airport is just a 23 minute drive from the village, with the closest train station 3.2 miles away in Crossgates.
History
In the early 19th Century Shadwell was still a village with fewer than 200 residents and contained just 11 farms and 2 inns. However, from the middle century, more people became attracted to the area and homes were made out of the local quarries. Today, there are over just 1800 residents in Shadwell.
