Things To Do

Shadwell has an abundance of things to do nearby. With Roundhay Park, one of the largest parks in Europe, just an 8 minute drive away, which hosts a whole range of events throughout the year, from concerts to food festivals, you’ll never be short of something to do. Shadwell has great transport links to and from the surrounding areas. There are over 4 different buses that take you into the centre of Leeds that operate regularly. When travelling by car, there is fantastic access to connecting roads for the M1 and M62. Excellent for commuting, Leeds Bradford airport is just a 23 minute drive from the village, with the closest train station 3.2 miles away in Crossgates.

History

In the early 19th Century Shadwell was still a village with fewer than 200 residents and contained just 11 farms and 2 inns. However, from the middle century, more people became attracted to the area and homes were made out of the local quarries. Today, there are over just 1800 residents in Shadwell.
