Things To Do

Close to Alwoodley is Eccup Reservoir which makes for scenic walks and bike rides. The keep your eyes peeled for the Red Kites that frequent the area! Alwoodley Village Green is a great place to take the kids, with plenty of playing grounds and climbing frames! If you fancy yourself a golfer you’re spolit for choice with both Sand Moor Golf Club and Moortown Golf Club on your doorstep

Eating & Drinking

There are a number of different restaurants to feast at in the Alwoodley area. Amici is a local favourite, serving up authentic Italian meals. They even have a takeout menu if you fancy a night in! The Olive Branch is also a firm favourite and provide a taste of Turkey. For something more casual, The Avenue Fish Bar is a popular spot for some British fish and chips.

Shopping

Alwoodley has a number of small convenience stores dotted in the area. For a more substantial food shop, head down to the nearby M&S Foodhall or Sainsbury’s Moortown. While there aren’t many shops within Alwoodley itself, Moortown is a short distance away and has a range of charity shops and independent businesses.

Transport

Alwoodley is in a prime location with Leeds City Centre being just a 10-minute drive away. If you’re travelling further afield, Alwoodley has close links to the A61 to Harrogate and the A6120 taking you across North Leeds. While Alwoodley doesn’t have its own train station, the area is well connected with buses every 10 minutes.

History

Private suburban housing development started in during the interwar years, with a 1929 brochure for Alwoodley Park Estate promising natural local attractions and modern homes in a healthy setting away from the city centre.
