To take advantage of far reaching views across Hythe Bay this charming detached 1970s family home is built in an elevated position and approached via a spacious driveway where you can park at least three or four cars. This leads to a double garage with automatic doors and a separate storage room as well as steps up to the house with its modern front door.

It opens into a warm and welcoming entrance hall that includes an understairs cupboard, a cloakroom and access to the ground floor accommodation. There is an impressive dual aspect light and bright sitting room with French doors and full height side windows to the rear, a wall of windows overlooking the front balcony and a smart modern gas fire providing a cosy atmosphere on a cold winter’s evening. The dining room is ideal for those more formal occasions as well as family celebrations as it has glazed doors to the conservatory and, when these doors are open, it creates a large overall space that can accommodate an additional table for special occasions such as Christmas and birthday parties.

There is a dual aspect study as well as a spacious dual aspect kitchen/breakfast room that was enhanced about two years ago. It includes a modern Rangemaster cooker with a gas hob and extractor fan as well as units housing stand-alone appliances and plenty of space for a large central table and chairs.

The modern staircase with its glass and wood bannister leads to a galleried landing with a picture window providing views around the bay, an airing and linen cupboard. There is a family bathroom and separate toilet as well as four double bedrooms with attractive views and fitted cupboards including the dual aspect main bedroom with a bathroom that has both a bath and a separate shower.

Outside the secluded garden offers a variety of delights including a large terrace for al fresco dining and where you can relax in the morning sunshine. There are two garden storage sheds and a large lawn that is just the place for kids to kick a ball around. It is surrounded by raised flower and shrub beds as well as apple and pear trees and there is a wraparound path with gated access to the front of the property where you will find decked balcony over the garage leading to the front door and a charming patio where you can sit watching the evening sunsets while drinking a glass of wine.

  • A delightful 1970s detached family home
  • Beautiful rear garden with terrace for entertaining
  • Double garage and driveway for 3-4 cars
  • Fabulous double aspect sitting room with log burner
  • Useful ground floor study for working from home
  • Ideally located for the local schools and bus route

We have lived here for the past 30 years and it has been a wonderful home to bring up our family but they have all flown the nest so we feel it is time to downsize. We originally chose this house because of its location, the views and access to good schools. We are on a bus route so is convenient for kids to go to school and have a level of independence but, because the house is high and set well back from the road, it is very quiet.

We can easily walk into the centre of the charming Cinque Port seaside town of Hythe with its independent shops, bars, restaurants and pavement cafes as well as Waitrose and other supermarkets. There is also the historic and picturesque Military Canal where you can walk the dog along the towpath and the excellent Hotel Imperial with its golf course and leisure centre. The town also has cricket, squash, tennis and sailing clubs and the Henry Cotton designed Sene Valley golf course.

There are good primary schools in Hythe and excellent grammar schools in Folkestone, Dover and Canterbury with some rated Outstanding by Ofsted and top class private schools in Ashford, Canterbury and Dover. Transport links are very good with Sandling station nearby and it is less than an hour to London on the high speed train from Folkestone West or about 36 minutes if you drive to Ashford International and we are only a short drive to the M20 for London or the Channel Tunnel if you want a trip to the Continent.

At the other end of our road you will find  the archetypal Kentish village of Saltwood. It is centred around the village green with a church on one side and a traditional village pub opposite. Not to mention an 11th century castle and some stunning nearby gardens – both sometimes open to the public. The village includes a convenience store, a cricket club and a village hall providing a number of activities as well as a Michelin Star restaurant. There is also Brockhill Park where you can also take the dog for delightful walks as well as the specialist Brockhill Performing Arts College.
