Sitting on the River Chet, Loddon is an attractive town with lots of interesting buildings and the centre is a conservation area. In the past, the river would have had wherries passing up and town carrying cargo but these days it’s more of a tourist and leisure attraction and a popular stop-off for those boating on the Broads. The beautiful staithe has an 18th-century watermill, while Holy Trinity Church dates back to 1490 and has a medieval font.

Amenities

Loddon is a great place to be if you’re active. The town has facilities or clubs for hockey, football, squash, swimming, cricket, bowls, badminton, tennis, karate, fencing, ballet, yoga, running, walking, darts and a community gym. We’re tired just from thinking about all that activity!

There’s also a library, hairdresser, optician, doctor, dentist and an arts centre. In fact, this is altogether an extremely well-served town. The Terrace Bistro serves local produce and has won a Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Award. Tea and cake at Rosy Lee’s is always popular, as is the award-winning food at The Swan, and there are plenty of other highly-regarded and excellent places to eat.

Walk it off along the Wherryman’s Way or explore Hardley Flood – a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Education

Schools here cater for children of all ages, with nursery, infant, junior and high schools, as well as independent Langley School.
