A truly impressive country retreat offering extensive living accommodation and finished to an exceptional standard throughout, set within impressive and extremely secluded landscaped grounds.
The property has undergone a meticulous renovation in recent years and boasts jaw-dropping quality, lavish fittings and an abundance of original features to create what we believe to be one of the most regal properties that the area has to offer. The grandeur oozes from every corner of this stunning home and benefits from considerable living accommodation, a Coach House along with stables and garaging, all nestled within beautiful parkland style grounds.
The property is approached through an imposing gated entrance with a tree lined driveway indicating just how special this listing is from the outset. A sweeping gravel driveway leads to the front elevation of this gorgeous Grade II listed building and showcases the stunning views and immaculately presented grounds.
The accommodation, including the outbuildings, extends to around 9000 SQ FT in all and offers versatile living space for a growing family that gives the potential for a separate annex or the option to run a business from home.
Highfield House has been impeccably renovated and restored by the current owners and great time and attention to detail has been given to every aspect. Restoration of the Georgian sash windows and shutters, ceiling coving and panelling are all of particular note, as the quality is second to none.
The main house offers beautifully appointed living accommodation set over two floors with truly grand reception rooms to include Drawing Room, Dining Room and Morning Room, all centred off an elegant hall with sweeping Georgian staircase.
The ground floor also sees a beautiful Library and Study providing the perfect space to work from home, as well as a sizeable ‘Smallbone’ Kitchen with Breakfast Room and further Snug.
To the first floor are a total of six large double bedrooms which have been individually designed to bring a sense of theatre, each of which offer fabulous views of the surrounding landscape from every angle. A luxurious Principal Suite with views to the West elevation gives a complete feeling of luxury and elegance with sumptuous ensuite facilities as well as a fully fitted Dressing Room. There are a further two lavishly appointed Bathrooms and a galleried landing which is simply unrivalled.
An attached Coach House is already incorporated into the main living accommodation but could double as a self-contained Annex to provide independent accommodation for relatives or older children. There is a large reception room currently being used as a Games Room but could be used as a living space with kitchen facilities already in place. Stairs lead to the first floor which sees a landing area with a large Balcony along with a vast open space with vaulted ceiling that could be used for a large bedroom with ensuite.
Externally, there are an extensive range of outbuildings to include a number of stables, workshops, garden store and a detached triple garage.

Owner’s insights
When we bought Highfield House in 2015 it was in a very sorry state and unloved and needed extensive renovation.
As ‘custodians’ of Highfield House we took our responsibility to bring this house back to its former splendour very seriously. We are members of the Listed Property Owners Club and Georgian Group. This afforded us significant and important resources to ensure we conducted the renovation sympathetically for us as a home and for future generations.
On our journey, we have built up an excellent pool of expertise that we continue to rely on today. They are trusted trades and advisors for us and have helped us to make Highfield House the home it is today. The gardens have been completely re-designed and landscaped with the help of our RHS qualified landscape designer who lives in the village. We now have lovely areas of interest that we can admire and enjoy throughout the year. We love living in our home and feel very lucky to have taken this journey, albeit it was extremely hard work.
When we moved to Lound we didn’t know the area at all. Due to the work on the house, it took us several months before we actually got to walk around the village properly. It is an idyllic village and community with myriad styles and sizes of properties, some tucked away down side roads. We were told at the time that the village was sought-after, and we quickly found out why. There are many professional people in the village, such as Doctors, Dentists, Scientists etc. There is a very active village hall committee, of which we are members, who organise and run many great events throughout the year. There is something for everyone, from a quiet space in the village green to the well designed and maintained playground and playing fields.
The village pub is the hub of the community and is a ‘proper’ village pub. The owners are fantastic at looking after their customers. The food is excellent as is the service from the always happy staff.
Everyone in the village looks out for each other and nothing is too much trouble. If we could take the village with us, we absolutely would.
